Two arrested on suspicion of murder as man killed in crash | UK | News

Two people have been detained on suspicion of murder after a man died in a collision in Barnsley.
In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said emergency services responded to reports of a crash involving a Volkswagen Touareg and a pedestrian on Rose Tree Avenue, Cudworth, at around 4.55pm on Friday.
The 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed his family had been informed and received support from officers.
A 60-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright said: “Our investigation into this tragic incident is still in its early stages and our thoughts are, above all, with the victim’s family, friends and loved ones.”
“Detectives are working hard to piece together the circumstances of what happened and we would urge anyone with information to contact us.
“Officers will remain on Rose Tree Boulevard to carry out further inquiries.
“If you have any concerns, questions or information you would like to share, please speak to our officers while you are in the area.”
The cordon remains closed as police continue their investigation.
