Gov. Healey and Mayor Wu booed loudly by fans at Red Sox home opener

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu were booed by fans at the Red Sox home opener on Friday.

Two Democratic politicians took the field at Fenway Park for a pregame ceremony before Friday’s game against the San Diego Padres.

And the more than 36,000 fans in attendance showered Democrats with relentless boos.

Healey on Thursday demanded that two private airlines stop providing flights to ICE to quickly remove detained illegal immigrants, citing a recent ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis.

In October, one of Healey’s aides was arrested on cocaine trafficking charges after investigators seized packages containing the drug that were scheduled to be delivered to the government office building where he worked, prosecutors said.

Wu is a frequent target of controversy for his resistance to immigration enforcement.

In February, Wu accused federal immigration officials of conducting “unconstitutional” operations in the city and ordered the public release of surveillance and body camera footage of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions.
