Big Bear bald eagles welcome two babies to the nest
April 5 (UPI) — Two of Great Bear Lake’s famous eagles – Jackie and Shadow – welcomed two babies into their nest in the past 48 hours, a year after another eaglet froze to death during a snowstorm.
The second of the two chicks finally broke free from its egg at 8:30 camera time, about 12 hours after the first chick broke free from the egg after nearly 36 hours of shell-cracking, Friends of Big Bear announced on Instagram.
“Both chicks are doing well, looking great and their journey is just beginning,” FOBB said. he said in the article.
The organization has been running a livestream of the two bald eagles called the Big Bear Valley Eagle Cam for several years, capturing the pair in both happy and sad times.

Two eggs were released during this process four days in late January and I noticed it live on air at the beginning of the eagles’ mating season.
FOBB, chick 1 was receiving its first successful feeding when chick 2 emerged from its shell.
“The first feedings are often difficult because the chicks do not have much muscle strength in the later ones,” FOBB said.
