CM Nitish Kumar announces free electricity for up to 125 units ahead of Bihar polls

Before the Bihar elections, Prime Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday, July 17, 2025, announced that the Eleigable domestic consumers throughout the state will receive 125 electricity costs, which are a move that will benefit 1.67 Crore as of August 1st.
Mr. Kumar said the government has decided to establish solar power plants on roofs or nearby public places in the next three years. “From the very beginning we provide everyone electricity at affordable prices.

In the next three years, with the consent of all these domestic consumers, we have decided that it will be established to benefit the roofs of solar power plants or to benefit from nearby public places, ”he said.
Kumar also said that the state government will fully meet the cost of establishing solar energy systems for extremely poor families, and others will receive appropriate financial assistance within the scope of the Kutir Jyoti plan.
He said the state could have 10,000 megawatts solar energy in the next three years. Under the Kutir Jyoti plan, for extremely poor families, the state government will carry all the costs of establishing solar power plants and provide appropriate support for the rest. This means that domestic consumers will no longer have to carry any costs for electricity up to 125 units and up to 10,000 megagats in the next three years.
This announcement moved to voters before the State Parliamentary elections, which were planned later this year. Bihar Cm Bay Kumar, who continued with the series of survey sticks the day before, directed the training department to immediately evaluate empty positions for teachers in public schools and to initiate the executive process of the teacher recruitment exam (TRE) 4.
The Prime Minister said that the government was determined to fill the teaching positions without delay and that he wanted the authorities to accelerate the recruitment process. He also reiterated the government’s policy of women’s reservation during the recruitment process and said that the 35% quota would apply only for Bihar residents.
