U.S. envoy to India Gor meets U.S. Commerce secretary Lutnick

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick here and discussed the trade road map of the two countries and the opening of a market of 1.4 billion people to American products.
Mr. Gor said in a social media post that he discussed with Mr. Lutnick a new MoU aimed at connecting India’s AI scale with the American AI ecosystem, as well as New Delhi’s strong participation in the upcoming SelectUSA Summit.
“A productive meeting with Secretary @HowardLutnick on the US-India trade roadmap. We discussed a new Memorandum of Understanding connecting India’s AI scale with the American AI ecosystem, India’s strong participation in the upcoming @SelectUSA Summit, and increased Indian pharmaceutical investment in the United States to increase competition and strengthen supply chains,” Mr. Gor said in a post on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
In a separate post, the U.S. Commerce Department said Mr. Lutnick and Mr. Gor were working to open a market of 1.4 billion people to American products.
“Today, Secretary Lutnick met with U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor to advance President Trump’s historic U.S.-India trade agreement,” the U.S. Department of Commerce said in a post on X on Tuesday.
“Together, we are working to open a market of 1.4 billion people to American products and secure over $500 billion in US exports,” the statement said.
Mr. Gor said he also met with Ben Black, CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
“I met with @DFC_CEO Ben Black for a nice discussion on expanding US-India investment partnerships that support infrastructure, growth and private sector opportunities. Ben is doing a great job,” Mr. Gor said.
“Always great to see my friend @DAGToddBlanche and tell her about my work in South and Central Asia. Everything we do under President Trump is to serve the American people first and to ensure that our foreign policies make America safer and stronger,” the US Ambassador to India said.
