Telangana to expand midwifery training across govt nursing colleges to curb C-section rates

Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, announced that the State will soon introduce midwifery training programs in government nursing colleges as part of a broader effort to promote normal births and reduce the rising incidence of caesarean sections.
The announcement was made during National Safe Motherhood Day celebrations at the National Midwifery Training Institute in Hyderabad; Here the Minister outlined the government’s approach to maternal health.
