HC allows BRS to meet in Wanaparthy
The Telangana High Court on Wednesday granted permission to BRS to hold a public meeting on Thursday, April 9, at Dharna Chowk, Gollapally village gate of Ravelly mandal, Wanaparthy district.
Justice EV Venugopal directed Wanaparthy SP to grant leave while hearing the lunch motion proposed by the party. The petition was filed by BRS’s Wanaparthy district president Gattu Yadav, who challenged the SP’s decision to cancel the permit. Farmers from Thalpanoor, Revalty, Yedula, Cheekapally, Chennaram and Gollapally villages had opposed the construction of Gollapally Reservoir near Yedula Reservoir.
Initially DSP Wanaparthy had allowed the meeting, but the SP later canceled the meeting citing the area being overrun by Maoists and intelligence inputs of a large meeting.
Rejecting the petition, the judge decided to hold the meeting on Thursday between 17.00 and 21.00 with a limit of 1,000 members. He also instructed the politicians attending the meeting not to make provocative speeches and to comply with all conditions imposed by the police.
