Tension In Warangal Over ANM’s Death

-Warangal: Tensions escalated after family members of a 20-year-old woman staged a protest on the national highway, alleging that she was gang-raped and murdered at AK Thanda in Rayaparthy mandal of Warangal district on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Gugulothu Chitti, was working as an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) at Narsampet government hospital. While he lived in the village with his grandparents, his parents resided in Hyderabad to earn their living. His two brothers were working in Madhya Pradesh.
The victim’s family alleged that four local youths gang-raped Chitti, leading to her death due to excessive bleeding. Their relatives, accusing the police of negligence, blocked traffic and demanded their immediate arrest. The body was later taken to the morgue of Wardhannapet hospital.
However, the police strongly denied the allegations of gang rape, citing preliminary investigation and medical evidence. According to officials, a case was registered on the complaint of the family but the post-mortem report (PME) confirmed that the cause of death was pending. Police announced that the bleeding the family mentioned was not due to sexual assault or physical violence.
Authorities also stated that some materials attract the attention of ants and rodents when religious ceremonies are held at home. The bleeding was reportedly caused by post-mortem pest activity approximately 24 hours before the body was found.
While the police acknowledged that four young men were allegedly following him, they claimed that no sexual assault took place. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to death and to verify allegations of abuse.
