Tesco issues ‘do not eat’ notice for chocolate dessert over fears it contains plastic

Tesco is urging customers not to eat one of its chocolate desserts over concerns it may contain plastic and be unsafe.
The supermarket giant issued a recall notice for its Tesco Finest summer edition chocolate affogato dessert on Thursday, asking customers to return it to store.
An alert issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) stated that all batches of desserts with a date code up to and including April 2027 are subject to recall.
“If you have purchased an affected item, please do not eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt required,” a notice from Tesco said.
The supermarket said the possible presence of plastic was believed to be due to the product’s packaging and that no other Tesco products were affected by the recall.
Tesco asked customers who wanted more information to contact customer service.
Last week, the chain was also forced to recall packages of jerky due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
On Saturday Curing Barn issued a recall for batches of British Bresaola 60g, saying it may be unsafe to eat.
Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogenic bacterium that can cause Listeriosis, a rare infection that can make some people seriously ill.
