Trump administration releases new renderings of so-called ‘Arc de Trump’ | Trump administration

Trump administration released Friday new images Part of the triumphal arch that the president wants to install at Memorial Circle at the foot of the Arlington Memorial Bridge.
As part of Donald Trump’s legacy-building quest during his second term in office, the structure, dubbed the “Arc de Trump”, will be 250ft tall, feature a 60ft gold Lady Liberty and include a viewing deck. The phrase “One Nation Under God” will extend to the top of the structure, according to Harrison Design’s latest plans.
The model has been presented to the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), which will meet on April 16 to consider the proposal.
Trump fired all six commissioners last year and replaced them with loyalists. The panel is one of two bodies responsible for signing off on the proposed White House ballroom. Although CFA approved this project in February, a federal judge halted construction weeks later. But the president had already demolished the historic East Wing to make room.
The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), chaired by one of Trump’s former lawyers, also gave the green light to the construction project days later, but the status of the work remains unclear following the district court’s decision.
The administration believes the arch will be “one of the most iconic landmarks not only in Washington, D.C., but throughout the world,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said in a statement.
He added that locating the arch near Arlington National Cemetery will serve as “a visual reminder of the noble sacrifices made by so many American heroes throughout our 250-year history so that we can enjoy our freedoms today.”
A White House official also told the Guardian that the estimated cost of the triumphal arch was “still being calculated” and would be shared in the near future. The White House expects “a combination of public and private funds” to be used to pay for the project, according to the official.
