Southern California storm to bring heavy rain, thunderstorms Sunday morning

After a brief lull in wet weather, another storm system is expected to move into Southern California late Saturday night, bringing more heavy rain, gusty winds, snow in the mountains and the chance for thunderstorms early Sunday, forecasters say.
KTLA weather anchor Kacey Montoya said temperatures will remain below average, but most areas will remain dry and mostly sunny on Saturday. High winds are expected in the mountains and deserts in the afternoon, with winds that could reach speeds of 45 to 50 miles per hour.
The main storm will impact overnight, with the heaviest rain expected early Sunday morning. The system could bring about a half-inch of rain and isolated storms to parts of the region, Montoya said.
Higher elevations may also experience snow accumulations of up to 6 inches above 7,000 feet.
Montoya stated that the winter weather warning for mountainous areas where snow and strong winds are expected will come into force as of 21:00 on Saturday.
Along the coast, highs will reach the mid-60s on Saturday before showers begin early Sunday, with a chance of thunderstorms and showers continuing into Monday morning.
In the Inland Empire, temperatures are expected to reach around 70 degrees on Saturday with partly cloudy skies and windy conditions before rain falls overnight. Similar conditions are expected in the High Desert, where gusty winds on Saturday will give way to rain and possible thunderstorms on Sunday.
Forecasters expect conditions to dry out by Monday, with temperatures rising back into the 70s on Tuesday.
