India will soon become self-reliant in defence sector, find itself among leading nations of the world: Rajnath Singh

Speaking at the War Heroes and Veer Naris Celebration Ceremony, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh noted that India’s domestic defense production for the financial year 2024-25 has reached a record high of 1.51 lakh crore rupees. Additionally, he highlighted that the country’s defense exports reached an all-time high of 38,424 crore rupees in the fiscal year 2025-26.

“India’s defense production reached a record 1 lakh 51 thousand crore rupees in 2024-25. India’s defense exports also reached a record 38,424 crore rupees in fiscal 2025-26,” Singh said.
“These are just a few examples. Numerous such efforts are ongoing, laying the foundation for a self-reliant and empowered India. I am fully confident that with the pace we are progressing, we will soon be completely self-sufficient in the defense sector and India’s name will be among the best countries in the world,” Singh added.
The Defense Minister stated that Lucknow has been declared a Defense Node along with Agra and Kanpur. He highlighted that the first batch of Lucknow-made BrahMos missiles has already been delivered to the Indian Army.
He also stated that many small and large-scale factories for the production of defense equipment were established in the city. “Speaking as the Defense Minister, I am delighted to see that our Lucknow is also making a significant contribution to the Defense sector. It is a matter of pride for Lucknow to be declared a Defense Node along with Agra and Kanpur,” Singh said.
Singh said, “The production of the BrahMos missile has also started in Lucknow. We are proud that the first batch has already been delivered to our army. In addition, many large and small factories related to defense equipment are also being established here.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the celebration ceremony held in Lucknow. Later, the chief minister along with the Defense Minister also attended the Shaurya Smriti laser light and sound show program in the UP capital.
