“Running Point” star Kate Hudson says raising fame-obsessed children will make her a “failure” as a mother.
While speaking with Fox News Digital about Netflix’s “Running Point” collaboration with State Farm and the upcoming second season, Hudson talked about her three children and the values she instilled in them as they grew up.
“My thing is, if my kids are driving or their goal is fame and success, then that’s something that will feel like a failure of mine,” the star began. “If that’s how they equate feeling important, then you know, they’re being fed a lie.”

“So for me, the most important thing about my kids is that they feel in control of themselves, that they understand what truly defines purpose, what a meaningful life looks like for them, and where they carry their values, right? What are those values and why?”
“And if you value fame and success, we could probably have a big meeting.”
“And if you value fame and success, we’d probably have a great conversation,” Hudson said.

Hudson stated that he would understand this desire if his children believed in equal opportunities for fame and success. “But the truth is, those things don’t really add up or create a fulfilling life. It’s meant that the work they do brings them a hopeful purpose and social purpose,” he said.
Ahead of the release of the second season of “Running Point,” Hudson shared that her work ethic has been instilled in her since she was a child.

“I think work ethic is something I grew up with. I’m a worker bee. I work really hard, and as far as my kids are concerned, I think you just have to continue to give up the things you love and show a really strong work ethic and be dedicated to the things you love,” said Hudson. “And keep working at it because everyone recognizes diligence and kindness. I mean, that’s success, right?”

“I do everything in the sense that I’m doing it completely, completely, you know. When I put my mind to something, I roll up my sleeves, I want to do it, and I want to do it right. I think Isla really wants to do it right, but I think her drive and ambition comes from a place of loving what she does, which I can relate to, but there’s also a dysfunctional side to it, which is what makes comedy so fun,” Hudson began.

“But I can’t say I’ve calculated my ambition. I love art and I want to tell good stories and I want to do things that move me and make me feel like I can do it, and if I get that opportunity it would be a great thing to be able to do that,” he continued. “But I don’t have that drive to win, and neither does Isla.”
