Fuel & LPG Supply Stable In Telangana : OMCs

Hyderabad: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) said demand for gasoline and diesel had decreased and was now comparable to pre-war levels. LPG refill bookings have also decreased significantly as panic-induced bookings by consumers have dropped significantly.

OMCs said around 2.18 lakh domestic LPG cylinders are currently being delivered per day in Telangana, compared to the pre-war average of 2.15 lakh cylinders per day, and declared this to be sufficient to meet the current demand.

According to the state-level coordinator of OMCs, the supply situation was being closely monitored and necessary measures were being taken to streamline logistics and speed up deliveries. OMCs were in constant coordination with the state government to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG.

The central and state governments were also promoting piped natural gas (PNG) as a convenient, safe and efficient alternative cooking fuel. “PNG services are available in Hyderabad, Medchal, Sangareddy, Choutuppal, Nalgonda, Warangal, Khammam, Shadnagar, Ramagundam and other selected towns. Efforts are on to expand PNG connectivity to additional urban and semi-urban areas in the state,” officials said.

Meanwhile, civil supplies commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra held a review meeting in coordination with representatives of OMCs and hotel associations as well as industrial director Nikhil Chakravarthi. Officials held consultations on the overall supply and distribution of commercial LPG from warehouses. Noticeable delays in deliveries have been observed in some sectors.

The review also focused on the overall requirements of the industrial sector, including industrial manufacturing and foundries. To prevent artificial scarcity, Raveendra announced a zero-tolerance policy against illegal supply or black marketing of commercial LPG. A stern warning has been issued that people who bypass the official system and purchase cylinders through illegal or unauthorized channels will face serious legal consequences.
