Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., confronted a speaker identified as “Marien” during the Jubilee debate on Sunday; where the two discussed immigration policy, public safety and the accountability of elites linked to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Marien outlined his concerns around personal security and government priorities, arguing that Democratic policies pose a major threat to ordinary Americans.
“I’m frustrated as an ordinary American citizen; I feel like I’m more likely to be harmed by Democratic policies like open borders,” Marien said.
The exchange reflected a broader discussion on immigration enforcement, crime and policy priorities, with Khanna advocating reform as well as border security as critics point out gaps in California’s approach.

“In your state, approximately 4,600 illegal immigrants with criminal records have been re-released from prison,” Marien said. “So when we’re talking about harming Americans, when we’re talking about potentially harming children, when we’re investigating child trafficking, we have to recognize that illegal immigration is the biggest funnel for child trafficking.”
Khanna responded by reiterating his stance on border security while shifting the focus to enforcement priorities.
“I am in favor of secure borders,” Khanna said. “We were in favor of ensuring border security.”
The discussion also touched on differing perceptions of the practice in California; Marien rejected Khanna’s characterization of Democratic positions.
“No one in California can say they are in favor of a secure border,” Marien said.

At another point, Khanna said he opposed ICE “introducing terror into communities.”
“I feel comfortable with ICE… They don’t terrorize me,” Marien said.
As both participants discussed how the allegations should be handled, the conversation expanded beyond immigration to include standards of accountability in Epstein-related cases.
Marien emphasized the importance of due process and a high standard of evidence before sentencing.
“I’m in favor of putting any abuser in jail, but I’m also in favor of bearing the full burden of proof,” Marien said.
