US rapper Azealia Banks gives surprise backing to Kemi Badenoch – ‘f****** iconic’ | UK | News

Kemi Badenoch has received the backing of US rapper Azealia Banks, who branded the Conservative Party leader a “f***** iconic”, claiming world leaders would respect her “professionalism”. The 34-year-old American singer and songwriter became famous worldwide with his single “212”, which entered the list of the best songs of all time in 2021.
In another viral tweet, the controversial singer branded Mr Farage a “idiot” and Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe a “crankster”. He added that Ms Badenoch was “no bum” and “doesn’t chatter and talk nonsense” and claimed the Conservative Party leader “could go to war with Putin and win”.
The online posts began with the singer once referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin as her “favourite supervillain ever” and adding, “I hope you all vote conservative and listen to Kemi Badenoch”. The Harlem-born rapper is no stranger to controversy and often speaks disparagingly about other countries.
In 2019, she claimed she was banned from an Irish airline and referred to herself as the “Queen of Ireland” in an Instagram post. In a separate incident, he accused Swedish people of being racist, before sharing a post calling for the bombing of the country.
Confused social media users reacted to a series of tweets from Ms Banks, with one saying: “This is the classification of Kemi’s 2026 party conference music,” referring to the singer’s extensive discography. Another responded to the singer claiming Badenoch was “Thatcher’s twin”.
It’s not the first time the singer has shared complimentary comments about Conservative politicians. “David Cameron’s Britain was the last aspirational Britain. The pound was $1.70, the Chiltern Fire Station was warm, Sakura in Mayfair was open, everyone was well dressed and well spoken,” he said in a lengthy post earlier this year.
She added: “I used to LOVE Britain. I could enjoy nights out in London.” Continuing with her praise of the former Tory prime minister, she even added that the country “lost all appeal” when he left office.
Welcoming the praise, Conservative activist Luke Robert Black told the Daily Express: “I agree with Azealia Banks that Kemi is the young sister, mentor and prime minister we so urgently need in the UK.”
