Ukraine to produce drones in Norway, officials say

Norway and Ukraine will strengthen their military cooperation, including the production of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the Nordic country, the Norwegian government said.

Officials in Oslo said in their statement that, according to the agreement, Norway will support the production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine, and Ukraine will share data, information and knowledge with Norway.

It was stated that Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles will also be produced on Norwegian territory.

“We can learn from Ukraine’s experience in the difficult fight against Russian aggression,” Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

“It is very important that we learn from these experiences,” he said.

As always, we had a nice and productive meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway @jonasgahrstore. We evaluated our cooperation on drone production and use in detail. Our experience is already being used in the Middle East and the Gulf. Norway, along with other Scandinavian and Baltic countries, has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine.

Store’s government has drawn up a long-term financing plan for Ukraine of US$28 billion ($39 billion) between 2023 and 2030, with the support of all parties in parliament, making it one of Ukraine’s most generous supporters on a per capita basis.

Earlier on Tuesday, Zelenskiy was in Berlin to meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The two agreed on plans for military cooperation, including a deal on drone production that Zelenskiy said could be one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
