Indian Military Academy raise security violations in upcoming mall in Dehradun, says project allowed without Army’s NOC

The proposal to build a massive commercial mall and residential complex near the Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun has sparked serious alarm in defense circles. In the letters written by IMA to the authorities in the state, it is stated that the project, which was allegedly planned within a 500-meter radius of the highly sensitive military zone, violated the security protocol and was approved without seeking any NOC from the Army.

Letter addressed to the District Magistrate, Dehradun, dated 4 February 2026, copy of which is available at the address below. HinduAs per the 2011 orders of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, it reads that any construction within 100-500 meters of the Defense Establishment requires security clearance from the Local Military Authority (LMA).
