Suspect arrested after housekeeper assaulted in Massachusetts mansion heist

A suspect has been arrested after his $20 million Massachusetts oceanfront mansion was broken into by two masked men who allegedly attacked a maid, tied her up and held her at gunpoint, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in valuables.

Emajae Brown, 25, was charged with home invasion, kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, intimidating witnesses, armed assault on a dwelling, larceny over $1,200, entering a building at night with intent to commit a felony, motor vehicle burglary and armed burglary.

According to Boston 25 News, Brown was taken into custody in Gloucester and prosecutors argued he was a danger to the community.

On the morning of March 28, a neighbor on Paine Avenue in Beverly, Massachusetts, called 911 to report a home invasion.

Investigators learned that two armed suspects broke into the mansion, assaulted and tied up the maid inside, and then left with several valuables. The only person in the house at the time of the incident was the cleaning lady.

According to CBS Boston, during the theft, the suspects allegedly took the maid’s phone and threw it into the ocean. They also allegedly made him find bleach and throw valuables into garbage bags.

“What they did to my maid was really terrible,” homeowner Thomas Swan III told WCVB after the robbery last month.

“She was held at gunpoint, sometimes dragged by her hair, eventually tied up and left in the garage. She’s really special but she’s really traumatized by this, really traumatized,” he added.

After the suspects left, the housekeeper ran away and went to the neighbor’s house and asked for help. The woman, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, was later discharged.

“He told investigators that the suspect pointed a firearm at his head and escorted him around the house,” a prosecutor said in court Tuesday, according to CBS Boston. he said.

A robber fled the scene with the Porsche he stole from the house, taking many valuables, including money and gold. This vehicle was later found by police several miles away near a cemetery in Lynn.

Ring cameras were able to locate Brown, who was tracked via phone surveillance to New York City, where he allegedly met with a jewelry dealer, according to Boston 25 News.

Local and federal authorities eventually found more than $300,000 and numerous gold items in his car, the source reported.

Police also said Brown was the ex-boyfriend of another maid who worked at the house. The prosecutor said they learned Brown had filed an open domestic charge stemming from an incident at the Encore Boston Harbor casino.

It was decided that Brown would be held without bail until his next hearing on April 21.
