Police say former Virginia lieutenant governor, wife dead in murder-suicide

ANNANDALE, Va. (AP) — Police in Virginia say the state’s former lieutenant governor, Justin Fairfax, shot and killed his wife and then fatally shot himself.
They were both found dead in their northern Virginia home after the couple’s teenage son called 911 shortly after midnight, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said Thursday.
The police chief said the couple was in the process of divorcing.
Davis said his officers responded to the home in January after Justin Fairfax claimed his wife had assaulted him.
“There are numerous cameras installed inside the home. It appears that Ms. Fairfax had installed multiple cameras inside the home at some point during the divorce proceedings. We reviewed these cameras and confirmed that the alleged assault never occurred. So no arrests have been made.” ___ EDITOR’S NOTE — This story contains discussion of suicide.
