Victoria Beckham Defends Parenting Amid Rift With Son Brooklyn

New York: Victoria Beckham said Thursday that she and husband David have always tried to “protect” their children, months after her eldest son Brooklyn explosively attacked his famous parents on social media.
In a January post, Brooklyn, 27, claimed his parents were trying to “ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz Beckham and said he didn’t want to reconcile with his family.
He said his parents tried to “bribe me into signing over the rights to my name” before he married the American actress in 2022, wanting to protect the “Beckham Brand”.
Victoria Beckham, the Spice Girls pop star and fashion designer, told the Wall Street Journal that she and former England football player David “always try to be the best parents we can be.”
“We’ve been in the public eye for over 30 years now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect and love our children,” he said.
“Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, God, is so different than having young children. I think we’re just trying to do the best we can.”
Brooklyn’s surprise criticism of his parents made front-page news in UK tabloids.
“From the moment I started defending myself with my family, I was subjected to countless attacks from my family, both private and public, sent to the press at their behest,” he said.
International football sensation David Beckham did not directly answer questions about the tensions, but US broadcaster CNBC said parents should let children “make mistakes” when asked about children’s use of social media.
