King Charles to speak of building on his mother’s legacy in heartfelt address to the nation for the late Queen’s 100th birthday celebration

King Charles will mark the late Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday with a heartfelt message to the nation.
Sources said Charles will deliver a recorded speech on April 21 to commemorate his late mother’s life and legacy and to adhere to the values of duty, honesty and integrity that his mother valued throughout her 70-year reign.
As part of the celebrations, a special reception will be held at Buckingham Palace, hosted by him and Queen Camilla, with dozens of guests attending.
Queen Elizabeth II Following Elizabeth’s death, Charles had a difficult start to his reign due to personal health problems and problems with his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Last October, Charles began the formal process to strip Andrew of his royal titles, dignitaries and honors after intense scrutiny over his links to Epstein.
The former duke was later arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office amid allegations he shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as trade envoy.
It was revealed that millions of documents, known as the Epstein files and released by the US Department of Justice, contain correspondence suggesting that Epstein may have shared sensitive business information.
The disgraced Duke was detained for 11 hours and later released under investigation.
King Charles has written a personal reflection on the life and achievements of his mother, the late Queen, and will deliver it to mark her 100th birthday later this month.
Mountbatten-Windsor, eighth in line to the throne, has always vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
Charles also continues to battle cancer after being diagnosed in February 2024 and receiving weekly treatment.
Despite this, he has maintained a full work diary with five official visits this year alone.
His treatment plan was recently reduced as he managed to live with the disease.
She is also estranged from her youngest son, Prince Harry, and has only seen him twice in two years following Harry’s acrimonious departure from the UK.
A royal insider told the Mirror: ‘The beginning of the king’s reign was not without its obvious troubles, but there was also much to celebrate.
‘He has been extremely positive in the face of challenges, continuing his cancer treatment while maintaining an incredible work rate. He traveled extensively throughout the country and abroad, met with two Popes, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the King’s Trust (formerly the Prince’s Trust) and continued historic visits abroad.
‘His message will be a celebration of an incredible life well lived and will also be an opportunity for him to renew his oath of service to the nation and the Commonwealth, but also to speak to the values he stands for, where justice and the welfare of others matter most.’
Charles reportedly penned personal reflections on what he considered his mother’s greatest achievements.
This will be accompanied by a touching video montage where touching moments from his life are played on the screen.
These are expected to include footage from his service in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II, mementos from royal tours around the world and domestic duties, and moments from his Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Charles is said to have spent a significant amount of time preparing the list of guests for the reception, prioritizing representatives of organizations and charities with which his mother had deep connections.
They are chosen from the hundreds of patronages Queen Elizabeth held throughout her life.
Speaking to The Mirror, which first reported the incident, a royal insider said: ‘Queen Queen Elizabeth II. The 100th anniversary of Elizabeth’s birth will not only be a poignant moment of reflection for Her Majesty, but also a cause for celebration of an incredible life well lived and a life dedicated to duty and country.
‘This is not a somber tone, it will be a celebration and exchange for people across the four nations and the Commonwealth to come together and reflect on the wonderful life and legacy of our Queen.’
Senior members of the royal family are expected to attend the King and Queen’s reception at Buckingham Palace.
A series of meetings will be held around the date to allow the country to reflect on the Queen’s reign.
Preparations are also continuing for the national Elizabeth monument to be opened in St James’s Park in London.
There is the late Queen’s state at Marlborough Gate, a new Prince Philip Gate on the other side of the park, a ‘garden family’ and a translucent unity bridge.
The winning design belongs to Lord Norman Foster, architect of The Gherkin.
