Ford recalls nearly 1.4 million pickup trucks due to gearshift issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks due to a shifting problem that could increase the risk of accidents don’t notice From the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Federal regulators said loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module transmission could cause some F-150 trucks to shift into second gear unexpectedly, resulting in loss of vehicle control.
The recall affects F-150 vehicles equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission manufactured between March 12, 2014 and August 18, 2017.
While remembering reportNHTSA said some vehicle owners may notice a malfunction indicator light or switch light illuminated on the vehicle’s dashboard if there is a problem with the transmission range sensor.
According to NHTSA, Ford is aware of two injuries and one crash that may be related to the shifting issue.
The Michigan-based automaker plans to send letters to vehicle owners starting April 27. Owners can take their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to update or replace the affected components of their F-150.
