Inside Jack Whitehall’s wedding to Roxy Horner, from his mother’s transformation after dress code mix-up to the multiple bridal gowns… as revealed by KATIE HIND

The center of attention at a wedding is usually the bride’s mother.

But on Saturday, when comedian Jack Whitehall married model girlfriend Roxy Horner in the celebrity wedding ceremony of the year, it was his mother Hilary who stunned with a remarkable transformation.

She switched from a floral blouse and waxy blue cardigan to a statement red sequined halter-neck dress with an eye-catching black tie, in keeping with the ‘angry and fun’ theme.

Never the shy and reserved type, the former London’s Burning actor beamed happily after changing to watch his eldest son walk down the aisle at the 17th-century Euridge Manor in the Cotswolds during the £250,000 bash.

Earlier in the day, Hilary, 64, arrived at the venue in her daughter Molly’s Land Rover Defender, clutching a My Little Pony magazine for one of her grandchildren and eye-stimulating patches under her reading glasses.

Her much more flamboyant outfit was one she almost never wore.

Last week, Hilary, who was accompanied by her theater manager husband Michael, 86, admitted Jack had given her a dress code ‘a few weeks ago’ and she had to rush to find another dress only to find out it was completely wrong.

She said: ‘When I asked Jack a few weeks ago what the dress code was he gave me the wrong one. I bought the wrong dress [then] The wedding invitation came with a completely different dress code. ‘I’m sorry about that, mom,’ he said.

While Hilary dressed casually as she arrived, she looked incredible when she emerged later in a red sequined halter-neck dress that matched the “angry and fun” theme with a dazzling black tie.

A source said of her striking outfit: ‘It was very in keeping with the gas and fun theme. It looked great. ‘She definitely knew how to get the look right for the celebrity wedding of the year.’

But Hilary wasn’t the only one looking gorgeous; his new bride was doubly guaranteed to attract attention.

Sources at the wedding say she wore not one but two gowns by Belarusian wedding dress designer Galia Lahav, each thought to cost £16,000.

One was more formal for the formal part of the wedding, but it later became clear that it had changed to another that was ‘easier to dance to’.

Roxy, 34, who has been with Jack, 37, since lockdown in 2020, had spent a “very, very long time” finding the perfect dress to say “I do” to.

The security team at the venue, which belongs to Jigsaw founder John Robinson, went to great lengths to protect it with umbrellas to prevent it from being seen by the public.

Adding to the extravaganza were the Essex-born beauty’s bridesmaids, fellow models Sophie Longford and Milly Slinger, who wore ankle-length champagne-peach dresses.

Jack wore a traditional black tie suit, floral buttonhole and a pair of £800 Christian Louboutin shoes for the big day, which started at 4pm and was due to run until at least 2am.

While he arrived at the venue with what was thought to be his son-in-law’s speech, his friends stated that he was “extremely nervous” about making this speech.

Jack’s best man is thought to be his younger brother, television producer Barney, while he was joined by his A-list pals, who went to great lengths to avoid being seen and arrived in a mostly blacked-out people carrier.

James Corden, Jamie Redknapp, Freddie Flintoff and David Beckham’s best friend David Gardner were also expected to be there.

Corden, Redknapp and Gardner headed to Jack’s stag party in London’s Soho three weeks ago, during which the groom-to-be looked even worse with a swollen crown on his head.

Following behind were two of the couple’s bridesmaids, looking elegant in their matching satin cowl maxi dresses.

They went to nightclub The Box in London, then went to mini golf popular Swingers and ended the night with drinks in the bar of the Soho Hotel; Jack reportedly slept off a hangover.

After the wedding formalities, guests sat down to dinner before the evening disco.

It is understood the wedding party was warned to ‘keep quiet’ because the venue got into trouble with the council in 2023 for being too loud.

Jack, who shares his two-year-old daughter Elsie with Roxy, has a colorful love life.

He split from actress Gemma Chan in 2017 after they met on the set of comedy-drama series Fresh Meat six years ago. He was also linked to British actress Kate Beckinsale, who was seen kissing in a corner of Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood in 2018.

Jack also reportedly enjoyed dating American socialite Paris Hilton and spent a lot of time at her Beverly Hills mansion after meeting her while she was hosting the BRIT awards in 2019.

But today, friends say Jack is only interested in one woman: his new wife. ‘Jack was so excited going to the wedding,’ one said.

‘He fell in love with Roxy.’
