ED Raids Didi’s Security Officer’s House, Arrests Realtor In Land Grab Case

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday raided and searched the city house of senior Kolkata Police officer Santanu Sinha Biswas, who is posted in West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s security detail in the land grab case.
In the morning, police raided his home on Fern Road in Ballygunge and questioned him until the afternoon while searching for his address. His son termed the ED action as a ploy by opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, who is the BJP candidate in Bhowanipore and Nandigram this time.
Mr. Biswas, who is a deputy commissioner of the special security unit in the special branch of the city police, had earlier been summoned to New Delhi by the ED for questioning on April 6 in the case related to money laundering charges.
This is the second time in a week that a senior Trinamul Congress aide has come under the radar of a central agency, following the Income Tax department’s pressure on Miraj Shah, one of those who proposed Ms Banerjee’s candidacy in Bhowanipore.
Angered by the raid, the CM said, “ED raided the person who was looking at my IT system. Our party candidate Debashis Kumar was detained for 16 hours. He was not allowed to campaign. A case will be filed for each incident. We are not singling out anyone. We keep records.”
“The officer guarding my security has now been raided. Does this mean you want to kill me to take over Bengal? Try it and see if you can do it.” The ED also arrested Joy Kamdar, owner of a real estate firm called Sun Enterprise, after raiding her home in Behala and taking her into custody in the same case. Joy was taken to the emergency office at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake.
