Trump says media won’t give him credit for Iran ceasefire progress

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

President Trump announced an unlikely ceasefire with Iran.

It’s not important.

Trump pressured Israel to stop its attacks on Lebanon.

So what.

The stock market reached record highs as investors concluded that the war was about to end.

It’s something important.

No matter what the man does, his rivals do not give him credit.

TRUMP PULLED IRAN TO THE BREED – BUT HAVE WE GAINED ANYTHING LASTING?

And when the murderous mullahs closed the Strait of Hormuz again in retaliation for the US blockade of Iranian ports, you could almost hear the sighs of relief that the peace deal might be collapsing.

Trump told ABC’s Jonathan Karl yesterday that Iran had “seriously violated” the ceasefire but was still confident about a deal:

“It’s going to happen. One way or another, the good way or the hard way. It’s going to happen. You can quote me.”

VANCE WARNES THAT IRAN WILL ‘FIND’ THAT TRUMP IS ‘NOT ONE TO FIND OUT MORE’ IN CASE OF BREAKING OUT OF THE ceasefire agreement

In X, Karl tried to forget this by calling on the president to comment on a significant setback in the war.

“Why would you risk yourself as a journalist and publish the BS of a pathological liar?” said a woman.

“Jon, stop,” another female poster said. “You know he has no clue so he feeds you lies.”

After Karl’s change, Trump tweeted: “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY”

“YOUR: TRUMP CAUGHT BY FEAR,” read the headline of a banner in Drudge. This was linked to an article in the Wall Street Journal describing Trump’s frustrations with the war, how he sometimes loses focus, and his consideration of awarding himself the Medal of Honor.

Tehran’s opening fire on two Indian-flagged ships in the strait was a worrying sign. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Galibaf said the two sides were far from each other on a final agreement. Maybe this is a negotiation tactic.

HEGSETH DECLARED ‘A DEFINITE MILITARY VICTORY’ AGAINST IRAN

The bigger point is that most Democrats, and many in the media, will not acknowledge when the president does something that produces the right outcome. Because it was Trump.

Now some of this stems from Trump’s decision, under pressure from Israel, to launch the war of his choice, launching airstrikes on Iran without even a nod to Congress or our so-called European allies.

Maybe this was a bad decision. It certainly wasn’t a popular thing.

THE IRAN WAR IS NEARING ‘COMPLETE’ AS TRUMP HAS A DEADLINE IN HIS EYES – WHAT MAY THE END GAME LIKE

Seven weeks later, a new Politico poll finds that 38 percent of respondents support strikes, and nearly half say Trump is spending too much time on global issues rather than domestic ones.

The president’s incendiary rhetoric didn’t help, from his “Shut the F-in’ Throat” on Easter Sunday to his vow two days later that “an entire civilization will die tonight.”

So I understand people who have principled objections to the war, especially Trump’s former aides in the conservative media.

STEVE FORBES: No more misconceptions; America needs to finish the job in Iran

But whether he got lucky or happened to stumble into the right situation, he certainly deserves some long-overdue recognition.

Trump says his harsh and sometimes unbalanced speech destabilized Iranian leaders who survived the bombing. And of course, the latest delay in halting the bombing has created space for an interim agreement (which would theoretically expire on Tuesday).

Hadi: If President Biden had brokered a double ceasefire with Iran and Lebanon, Democrats would have hailed him as a great commander in chief and a strong peacemaker. (And most Republicans will be critical.)

TRUMP’S IRAN STRATEGY SHOWS THE ‘DOCTRINE OF UNPREDICTION’ IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF ATTACK THREATS AND SURPRISE PAUSE

Never one to hold back praise, Trump posted on Friday: “The failing New York Times, FAKE NEWS CNN and others don’t know what to do. They are desperately looking for a reason to criticize President Donald J. Trump about the situation in Iran, but they can’t find one.”

Meanwhile, Trump has not lost his ability to step into his own story.

The president posted a fake AI image depicting himself as Jesus and a follow-up showing Jesus consoling him, angering many Catholic followers who viewed the images as blasphemous. Trump had to delete the first one within 12 hours, which he almost never does.

Morning Glory: US-IRAN NEGOTIATIONS IN ISLAMABAD BECAME REYKJAVÍK 2.0

I know why you did this. Trump’s desire to draw attention to his war of words with Pope Leo guaranteed that the issue would be in the news for days. He even had J.D. Vance, a converted Catholic, warn the American-born Pope to be careful when discussing theology.

By the way, I disagree with Pete Hegseth’s (who actually quotes a Bible verse from “Pulp Fiction”) blaming the “Trump-hating” legacy media. I don’t believe they portray the war as a failure.

But as I watched show after show after Trump’s announcement, I saw what little direct news about the president’s update quickly turn into a mess of Jesus, his dissing of NATO, the Epstein files, RFK’s apparent shift on vaccines, Victor Orban’s defeat; These are all things they would talk about if there was no progress in the war.

WHY TRUMP AND IRAN ARE SEVERAL YEARS DIFFERENT ABOUT A POSSIBLE DEAL TO END THE WAR

Despite the president’s repeated declarations of victory, we have to ask where this leaves the main justification for the airstrikes: preventing Iran from producing nuclear weapons.

Whether such an outcome is imminent or not, I have never seen Iranians who lie for a living agree to give up their long-standing ambitions.

Instead, I watched Trump say he would strongly consider unfreezing $20 billion in assets in Iran if the United States removed its enriched uranium and underground nuclear “dust” from the country. Perhaps with this so-called price tag it is valuable to the world’s largest terrorist state.

BROADCAST BIAS: FROM SPACE TO THE ceasefire, NETWORKS STILL PICTURE TRUMP AS THE PROBLEM

But as we just learned again, the devil is always in the details.

Let’s say the ceasefire continues, Ormuz is reopened, and an agreement is made; Let’s put aside all the warnings about how this train could derail.

Will Democrats and the mainstream media reluctantly accept that Donald Trump has accomplished something quite historic?

I’m not so sure about that.
