Royal Family LIVE: New Andrew bombshell revealed after Government fears over FBI probe | Royal | News

According to emails contained in the Epstein Files, Home Office officials expressed concerns that Andrew Moutbatten-Windsor could take legal action against the UK Government in the High Court if he helped the FBI summon him to give evidence.
The former prince did not assist the FBI in its investigation of Epstein and repeatedly rejected requests during the 2020 US investigation to take part in a voluntary interview to reveal what he knew about the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Instead, his lawyers insisted he would only provide a signed written statement.
Emails revealed by Sun Show why the efforts ultimately failed. Civil servants in Whitehall feared that Blackfords, the law firm used by Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, would object to any help they provided. One email says: “They [The UK Home Office] We expect the Blackfords to file a judicial review once they approve the MLA and forward it to the police.
“They believe that in this case the Blackfords will argue that the Home Office failed to follow its internal guidelines to reserve MLA assistance to situations where voluntary co-operation is not possible.
“The Blackfords will argue that the Home Office failed to properly implement its own internal guidelines, as they offered voluntary cooperation in early June, and that the court should order the Home Office to withdraw its approval of the MLA request and send it back to the US to work voluntarily with the Prince’s team.”
