Barcelona, one of the most iconic and intensive visited cities in Europe, takes a decisive action to limit the impact of cruise tourism by reducing cruise terminal capacity and bringing comprehensive sustainability measures. Barcelona Port confirmed this week that it would reduce the number of cruise terminals in the main Adossat Wharf from seven to five. The oldest terminals, which are the A, B and C terminals, are preparing to dismantle up to a new, state -of -the -art facility that can use up to 7,000 passengers at a time.
The demolition of the C terminal will begin at the end of 2026 and the new terminal is planned to be opened until 2030 and reduces the port capacity from 37,000 to 31,000.
