In Andhra Praadesh, Collectors race for investments

A.At the recent Collectors Conference in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu encouraged the District Collectors (DCs) to play a proactive role in attracting investments to support the efforts of the State Investment Promotion Committee, State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), AP Economic Development Board and other institutions. At the district level, there are District Industries Promotion Committees whose chairmen are DCs.

These Collectors have their work cut out for them as the CM has decided to assign ranks to districts based on how much investment and employment are generated and the Speed ​​of Doing Business (SoDB). These DCs are expected to not only meet potential entrepreneurs but also convince them to set up units in their localities. Additionally, the CM wants DCs to focus on granting expeditious regulatory clearances to set a benchmark when it comes to SoDB.
