Ryan Roslansky steps down as LinkedIn CEO, signals next phase under Satya Nadella’s AI push

In a significant leadership change, Ryan Roslansky has resigned as chief executive of LinkedIn. The company confirmed that Dan Shapero, who served as COO, will serve as the new CEO.

The transition marks a new phase for the Microsoft-owned platform as it continues to evolve in the rapidly changing digital workplace environment.

Dan Shapero has been associated with LinkedIn for over a decade. After working as a project consultant at Bain & Company, he joined the company as general manager in 2008.

Over the years, Shapero has held key leadership roles in sales, marketing and product departments. His long tenure and familiarity with LinkedIn’s operations and user base are expected to guide the company through its next phase of growth.

Announcing the changes in a post, Roslansky drew attention to the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of work.

“When Satya Nadella asked me to lead LinkedIn and Microsoft Office last year, I knew what he was counting on: AI will change the way people work and grow in their careers faster than most people expected. And LinkedIn and Office will be at the center of that.

This opportunity is growing. So we’re scaling the team and talent to accommodate that.

First, I asked Daniel Shapero to be the CEO of LinkedIn reporting to me. Dan led sales, marketing and product across the most important parts of this business. He knows our members, our customers, and fulfills this mission in a way that is truly rare.

Secondly, I asked Mohak Shroff to take on the role of Head of Platforms and Digital Operations and also report to me. Mohak is one of the most original technology thinkers I know. In this role, he will focus on technology strategy and long-term innovation as we build the future of business.

Congratulations Dan and Mohak. I look forward to building the next chapter of LinkedIn and Microsoft together.”

The leadership change comes at a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing hiring, productivity tools and professional networking platforms.

Roslansky’s remarks underscore LinkedIn’s intention to position itself at the center of this change, alongside Microsoft’s broader AI-focused ecosystem.

The appointment of Mohak Shroff as Head of Platforms and Digital Business signals a parallel focus on long-term technology strategy and innovation.

What does this mean for LinkedIn?

Under Dan Shapero’s leadership, LinkedIn is expected to continue expanding its offerings for professionals and businesses, especially in areas impacted by artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

The company remains one of the world’s largest professional networking platforms, playing a key role in recruitment, skills development and career development.

The leadership change reflects a broader strategy to align LinkedIn’s growth with emerging trends in technology and the workplace.
