Victoria Police find more than $13m worth of meth in major highway drug bust

A pile of meth worth millions of dollars was discovered at a traffic stop on the Hume Highway in northern Victoria.
The discovery was made after officers pulled over a Black Toyota Prado in unmarked vehicles near Wangaratta on Wednesday afternoon.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Katherine McLeod said the drugs had a street value of $13 million and were “hidden inside the vehicle”.
They were both charged with dealing in large quantities of commercial drugs and were remanded in custody to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Detective Inspector Jamie Walker said tackling the impact of drugs in society was a “major focus” for Victoria Police.
“We have zero tolerance for those who harm our communities by importing and trafficking drugs of all kinds,” Mr. Walker said.
“As part of this investigation our team tracked down criminals and in turn cleared a significant amount of drugs off the streets.
“Drugs are a major driver of crime; this investigation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to cracking down on the trafficking of illicit substances in Victoria.”
