Swindon College LIVE: New College in lockdown as armed police swarm scene | UK | News

Swindon New College has been closed down by police after an incident on Friday. Police officers were at the scene on the Queens Drive campus, along with about eight police cars and armed police vehicles, the Swindon Advertiser reported. Sources inside the building told the exit that they were kept inside with orders to “stay in place” and “keep out of sight.” One student said his friends were stuck in the math hallway.
Two people were detained after it was reported that a man was armed with a knife at the university. Wiltshire Police confirmed no knife was found. Police said: “We attended New College in Swindon at around 11am today following a report that a male had been seen with a knife. Officers attended and two males were detained. Searches were carried out and no knife was found.”
