Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel to Islamabad on Saturday (US time) for further talks with Iran.

They are expected to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is in Islamabad as part of a wider trip, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Speaking to reporters Friday afternoon Washington time, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the two would “go to Pakistan tomorrow to listen to the Iranians.”

Leavitt said Vice President J.D. Vance will not be part of the initial delegation but is willing to join “if we feel it is necessary.”

“The Iranians want to talk. They want to talk in person. And so, as I’ve told all of you over and over again, the President is always willing to give diplomacy a chance.”

The country’s powerful Parliament Speaker, Mohammed Bagher Galibaf, is not expected to be in Islamabad, but could join at short notice.
