Machete-wielding man killed in far north Queensland

The police shot and killed a man in Townsville after allegedly moving towards civil servants while being armed with a machete and knife.

Emergency services were called to North Ward where McKinley Street and Strand intersected on Saturday following the reports of a man armed with a machete and a knife.

Officers tried to use a design on the man, but failed.

According to the first reports, the man approached the civil servants when he was armed and then hit his chest.

Emergency services provided medical assistance at the scene, but the man was killed.

A Queensland ambulance spokesman said that medical officials were at the scene and evaluated a male patient in a life -threatening situation ”.

No police officer or public members were physically damaged during the incident.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the surveillance from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
