UC Berkeley slammed after anti-Israel group hosts failed suicide bomber as guest event speaker: ‘cesspool’

Part of the far-left organization at the University CaliforniaThe law school at Berkeley capped off Palestinian Political Prisoners Day earlier this week with a message from a failed suicide bomber who spent eight years in prison in Israel.

UC Berkeley Law Students shared a video for Palestine Justice. instagram Israa Jaabis, the convict who attempted a car bomb, thanked his Western counterparts for supporting his cause.

“First of all, I want to thank [the students] Because they listened with their attention and their hearts,” Jaabis said, according to English subtitles added to the video.

“For many reasons, their participation alone is enough for us, as liberated Palestinian prisoners, to feel that there is someone who cares about us.”

Jaabis was imprisoned in Israel from 2015 to 2023 for trying to plant a car bomb during a traffic stop. The incident occurred near an area where Israeli soldiers often gather and try to hitchhike. During the terrorist attack, both Jaabis and Israeli officer Moshe Chen were severely burned.

While Jaabis was in prison made headlines for requesting plastic surgery on his severely scarred face. He was released as part of a prisoner exchange in November 2023, as the Israeli government was trying to release hostages taken by Hamas militants in the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.

In the video, Jaabis said, “There are those who are in solidarity with us, those who support us and those who do not leave us alone.” he said.

“Your participation, especially as law students, gives us hope that there is some humanity left, that there is someone who will support us in the future, who will take our message to the international community and strengthen our call to liberate Palestinian prisoners, as well as liberate societies from the slavery and bigotry that have made them complicit in the implementation of inhumane laws.”

Critics of X criticized both the event organizers and UC Berkeley.

“It shouldn’t surprise you that Berkeley is a left-wing cesspool.” in question an X user.

“Muslims must be laughing at the insane stupidity of the ‘enlightened’ useful idiots in the West.” in question another.

“This stuff keeps me up at night. I don’t understand how the world rewrites morality to suit its own political agenda,” another said.

A spokesperson for UC Berkeley Law said the school’s hands were tied.

“As a public university, UC Berkeley has a non-discretionary obligation to comply with and support the following rules: First Amendment Alex Shapiro, associate dean for communications, said: “We do not have the legal authority to sanction or censor constitutionally protected speech.

“However, as UC Berkeley has repeatedly informed the student body, if any campus community member feels threatened, they are encouraged to contact the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination. OPHD provides support to those harmed, investigates all allegations, and the campus takes appropriate action following any findings.”
