South Korea’s jailed ex-president Yoon indicted again

South Korea’s former President Yoon Suk-Yeol was accused of additional accusations while investigating a short-lived martial law declaration.
On Saturday, the prosecutor’s prosecutor, among the new accusations abuse of authority, is to order the deletion of records and to prevent the execution of arrest orders.
When Yoon declared martial law during an address held on TV in December, he triggered an unprecedented constitutional crisis and shocked a nation that was proud of a democracy that developed after overcoming the military dictatorship in the 1980s.
The private prosecutor, who can be sentenced to death or life imprisonment and has been on charges of insurrection against additional charges since he was appointed to take over the lawsuits against him in June.
Yoon rejected all injustices. His lawyers did not respond immediately to the request for a comment on new charges.
The former leader who was fiery and dismissed has been imprisoned at the Seoul Detention Center since the beginning of July.
A court has recently rejected the request to be detained.
