Girl, 6, dies after two children hit by car in Scottish town

A six-year-old girl died and another child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Johnston Street in the Renfrewshire town at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

Police Scotland said the six-year-old child was pronounced dead at the scene, while a seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital.

Authorities are requesting information as investigations continue.

Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “At around 5.30pm on Saturday 25 April 2026 police received a report that two children had been struck by a car on Johnston Street in Paisley.

“Emergency services arrived and it was determined that the 6-year-old girl died at the scene. The 7-year-old girl was taken to the hospital and treated.

“Investigations are ongoing and our thoughts are with the family of the dead girl. They ask for their privacy to be respected at this time.”

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 2786 of 25 April.
