Two mothers from different corners of West Bengal and from different backgrounds are contesting the Assembly elections with a single purpose: to get justice for their daughters, who were killed in separate, gruesome incidents in the state.
Ratna Debnath from Panihati Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas has emerged as the key face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) campaign. For Ms. Debnath, whose daughter, a doctor at RG Kar Hospital and Medical College in Kolkata, was raped and murdered in August 2024, the election is a personal quest for justice for her daughter.
