Washington, D.C. — The White House Correspondents’ Dinner quickly descended into chaos on Saturday as gunshots rang out in Washington, D.C., which is hosting the annual gala with President Donald Trump in attendance.
According to authorities, the suspect was identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen of Torrance, California. Law enforcement officials added that he prepared a manifesto and posted on social media outlining his intention to target Trump and other administration officials, officials said.
Authorities said Allen’s sister, Avriana Allen, told the Secret Service and Montgomery County Police that her brother had made radical statements in the past and had previously talked about a plan to do “something” to fix what he believed were problems with today’s society.
