Allyson Felix says she plans comeback to run at 2028 LA Olympics at 42

Allyson Felix, the most decorated track and field Olympian of all time, wants another chance to add more medals to her illustrious career.
40 year old told the time He will make a comeback with hopes of running at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games in his home city.
“A lot of us were told not to do the big, bold thing,” Felix told the outlet about his comeback. “You know, at this age, I should probably stay home and take care of my kids and do all this. And why not? Let’s turn this around. Let’s go for it. Let’s be vulnerable.”

Felix will be 42 when the Olympics begin in Los Angeles, but the winner of 11 Olympic medals, including seven golds, in five different Games has seen others over 40 do things most would say are impossible. During the interview, Felix mentioned Tom Brady, LeBron James, and Lindsey Vonn.
He wants to break the age limit, believing he can have one last shot at Olympic glory.

Had Felix made the Olympic team at age 42, he would have become the first American sprinter to reach the Games in his 40s. Considering his specialty is sprinting, it will be quite a feat considering the talent pool he will be facing.
Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Gabby Thomas and more will compete for a spot on the Olympic team in 2028. But that won’t deter Felix, who many of these women have probably looked up to since bursting onto the Olympic scene in Athens in 2004.

That year, Felix won the silver medal in the 200 meter dash. Then, during the 2008 Games in Beijing, he won a gold medal with the 4×400 meter relay team and a silver medal in the 200 meter sprint race.
Felix reached his peak running power during the London Games, winning gold medals in the 200 metres, 4×100 meter relay and 4×400 meter relay. He was part of the team in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo before announcing his retirement following the 2022 track and field season.
Since then, Felix has been inducted into the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Hall of Fame in 2025 and has also served as part of the International Olympic Committee Athletes Commission as well as the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee Board of Directors.
Despite being heavily involved in the US Games, Felix wants to return to the track.

Felix returned to competitive running last year but said he would start training seriously for an Olympic return in October.
If Felix ultimately doesn’t make the team, he said he will attend the 2028 LA Games with his children to cheer on those representing the Stars and Stripes.
