Liverpool Central LIVE: Fire closes station as Merseyrail trains delayed – update issued | UK | News

Train services on the Merseyrail network have faced widespread disruption after a fire alarm was triggered at Liverpool Central station.

Services on multiple lines were partially suspended or shortened due to trains being unable to pass through the city centre.

-Chester and Ellesmere Harbor lines only operate to Birkenhead Central

-West Kirby and New Brighton lines go to Birkenhead North

-Southport, Ormskirk and Headbolt Lane lines terminate at Sandhills

-Hunts Cross services are currently suspended

Rail replacement buses operate between major stations and the city centre, including Moorfields, with tickets accepted on local bus services and selected alternative rail routes.

Passengers are being advised that they will be able to use their tickets on replacement buses as well as some services operated by Transport for Wales and Northern Rail at no extra cost.
