Is the news media bargaining incentive good? We ask the experts

The Albanian government’s plan to make major tech companies pay for Australian news content on their platforms has been welcomed by the country’s biggest media players. But there are concerns that small and medium-sized publishers will be left out.
The proposal, called the “news bargaining incentive”, is a follow-up to the short-lived news media bargaining code of the Morrison era. The scheme is designed to encourage tech platforms to pay for news media produced by Australian publishers that are then redistributed on their platforms.
