Trump rejects Iran’s nuclear proposal as US-Iran peace talks stall

The “peace talks” with Iran – if they can be called that – are going nowhere fast.

First, President Donald Trump canceled J.D. Vance’s visit to non-existent talks. He later canceled the lower-level delegation consisting of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Now the Iranians are back with a proposal that is completely in their favor and that Trump has already rejected.

The murderer mullahs say they want the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to end if the United States stops its blockade of Iranian ports. So far, so good.

But then – guess what – they would postpone the issue of nuclear disarmament to an indefinite time in the future.

His response to the president’s speeches: What about never? Doesn’t work for you at all?

Trump told his advisors that he was unhappy with the offer made through mediators in Pakistan. Disappointed might be a better word.

Before Saturday’s assassination attempt, the President posted: “Iran is having a hard time figuring out who their leader is! They just don’t know! The infighting between the ‘Hards’ who are losing BADLY on the battlefield and the ‘Moderates’ who are not at all moderate (but are gaining respect!) is CRAZY!”

Marco Rubio said: “What we’re dealing with here is a regime run by a bunch of crazy people. They’re chanting ‘Death to America, ‘Death to Israel,’ and we have to take that seriously.”

He added: “The point here is simple: They will never have a nuclear weapon. And if you want to make sure they never have a nuclear weapon, you have to take away the things that will enable them to have a nuclear weapon. That means their missiles, their drones, their ability to threaten the region. So yes, that includes going after those capabilities.”

Since US airstrikes killed all of Iran’s top leaders, the government has been consumed by “warring factions” unable to settle on a “consistent” position, Axios reported.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Galibaf takes a harsh stance.

Meanwhile, despite the ceasefire arranged by Trump, Israel and Iran’s proxy Hezbollah continue to attack each other in Lebanon. Hezbollah rejected the peace plan.

“The United States is no longer in a position to dictate its policy to independent nations,” Defense Department spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik said, adding that the Trump administration “must abandon its illegal and unreasonable demands.”

While the peace process remained uncertain, oil prices also rose. Gasoline prices rose to an average of $4.18 per gallon yesterday, the highest level in the last four years.

All this has increased criticism that Trump launched the war impulsively and without a clear exit strategy, under pressure from Israel.

The president keeps saying he’s won the war and “we have all the cards.”

But Trump is stuck right now. He wants to get out of an unpopular war, but Iran is being as intransigent as ever. And without independent inspections, no agreement on nuclear weapons is worth anything. This was the same dilemma the Obama administration faced.

The United Arab Emirates, which has just left OPEC, can now provide additional oil shipments free of the alliance’s restrictions.

This conflict also has a political dimension. If Trump cannot come to terms with Iran’s nuclear enrichment (the real reason for going to war), this will undermine his ability to claim victory, as Tehran knows full well.

The President shared this yesterday:

“Iran has just informed us that they are in a ‘State of Collapse’. They want us to ‘open the Strait of Hormuz’ as soon as possible.” So why would they tell him this?

One thing I know from decades of researching this man: Despite his threats to destroy Iranian civilization, Trump will never do it. His heart isn’t in it. He does not want to go down in history books as having destroyed an ancient civilization.

That’s why Trump continues to extend ceasefires in the hope that a reasonable agreement can be reached.

As the President said, the US military destroyed Iran’s air force and navy. In that sense, it was a major victory, even if Democrats and some of Trump’s former allies in the conservative media did not want to admit it.

But Iran has only one card to play, and that’s doing nothing.
