UK weather maps turn deep red as 26C heat could beat the hottest day of the year | Weather | News

The Met Office is predicting temperatures will rise to 26°C across the UK this week, which will make Britain warmer than some of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations.

The Met Office’s latest forecast predicts highs of 26C in southern areas on Friday, while temperatures of 24C can be expected in northern areas. Scorching weather is expected tomorrow; The temperature is expected to be 24 degrees in the south and 22 degrees in the north.

By contrast, temperatures in the Greek resort town of Zante are only expected to reach 19C on Friday, while sun seekers in Benidorm, Spain will have to make do with a moderate 21C.

Temperatures are expected to reach 20 degrees or above across most of England, except the south-west. Data also shows parts of north Wales and southern Scotland could reach 21°C.

The Met Office warned of possible thunderstorms on Friday despite “hot and humid” conditions. The forecast reads: “Hot and humid with sunny skies on Friday and a few heavy showers or thunderstorms. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and showery, some heavy with thunderstorms. It will be a bit cooler.”

The BBC is predicting a combination of sunshine and showers on Friday. The forecast is as follows: “On Friday, it will be more cloudy in the north, with one or two showers in the afternoon. Further south and west, a mix of scattered showers and sunshine. Temperatures will increase in the south and southeast.”
