Walmart opens $350M milk facility in Texas that will create 400 jobs

Walmart opened A $350 million dairy processing center in Texas that will create hundreds of jobs.

The more than 300,000-square-foot facility opened Wednesday, April 29, in Robinson, south of Waco, and will supply milk to more than 650 Walmart stores and Sam’s Club in the South-Central U.S., according to a news release from Walmart.

The milk will be sourced directly from local dairy farmers and will be processed and bottled in a variety of milk options, including gallon, half-gallon, whole, 2%, 1%, skim and 1% chocolate milk for Walmart’s Great Value and Sam’s Club Member’s Mark brands, the statement said.

Walmart opened a 300,000-square-foot dairy facility in Robinson, Texas (south of Waco) on April 29 and will supply milk to more than 650 Walmart stores and Sam’s Club in the South-Central U.S., according to a news release from Walmart.

“The opening of our new facility in Robinson, Texas will help us deliver more of what our customers want: fresh, affordable food and quality they can trust,” said John Laney, Executive Vice President of US Food at Walmart. “This will strengthen our capacity to meet demand for high-quality milk, making our supply chain more resilient, while improving freshness by reducing the time from dairy to shelf and delivering greater consistency, greater transparency and greater value to our customers.”

The facility held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 29, with local dignitaries in attendance, including Robinson’s mayor, Greg May.

“This is an incredible facility. We look forward to a successful long-term relationship with them,” May said in a Facebook post.

The Robinson plant is the third dairy processing facility owned and operated by Walmart and will create more than 400 new jobs, the news release said.
