WHCD gunman’s brother reveals agonizing call MINUTES before shooting: Hero sibling seen for the first time as insiders tell of shooter’s surprising family life

Minutes before gunfire erupted outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Gabriel Allen was faced with an unthinkable decision: report his own brother to the police for his irrational anti-Trump rhetoric.
But the 25-year-old hero actually alerted New London, Connecticut police on Saturday after he and family members received a disturbing 1,052-word letter of fear against the president from his older brother Cole, 31, signed “Friendly Federal Assassin.”
A short time later, Cole, armed with a shotgun, pistol and knives, exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents who allegedly tried to breach a checkpoint in the lobby of the Washington Hilton under the pretense that he was going to shoot Donald Trump and other administration figures.
While Cole Allen is now facing serious federal charges, his younger brother Gabriel has been widely praised for his attempt to stop the potential bloodbath; Friends and family tell the Daily Mail she was being stalked by an honest man they knew.
‘Gabe is a pretty honest guy. “He’s very outspoken, very thorough and very easy to talk to,” said his former colleague Ewan, who worked with him at an ocean engineering firm until last summer.
Ewan, who did not want his last name published, added that Gabriel had not yet confided in his friend about the chain of events leading up to his brother’s arrest, but would likely rely on his faith to get through this situation.
As news of his exploits swept the world, Gabriel was devastated as the media descended on his two-bedroom apartment in New London, Connecticut, where he moved in with his partner Ashley in 2024.
But days after his brother’s alleged attack, Gabriel seems determined to return to some semblance of normalcy; because for the first time she is pictured simply doing her laundry in exclusive Daily Mail photos.

The Allen family, which includes, from left, sisters Avriana and Stephanie, Cole, and brother Gabriel, were known in their community as a loving, church-going family from Torrance, California.
But the mild-mannered marine engineer shook his head and remained silent when a Daily Mail reporter asked him questions about his actions and his brother’s arrest.
Friends and family members told the Daily Mail that Gabriel was caught off guard by his brother’s alleged attack.
‘I can imagine Gabe is going through a lot right now. A friend of mine, who asked not to be identified, said she always had a strong sense of right and wrong and never hesitated to do what was right, even when it was difficult.
Indeed, Gabriel’s intervention came amid major upheaval in his own life: He and his wife, Ashley, who married last July, welcomed their first child, a daughter, just two weeks ago, his parents-in-law, Joel and Jennifer Devereux, told the Daily Mail.
Like many new parents, Gabriel and Ashley are struggling to sleep, but the timing of their brother’s alleged attack has left them suffering during an already difficult time.
‘It’s so surprising to see your brother say: ‘What’s going on?’ “You don’t plan for something like this,” Mr. Devereux said.
Praising his ‘brilliant’ and ‘pretty great’ son-in-law, Mr Devereaux suggested calling the police would be second nature, adding: ‘I guess everyone does that. “Hey, there’s more going on, I don’t know what to do with this, let me go to the police.” like.’
Mrs Devereux said it was ‘not easy’ for Gabriel to get Cole’s manifesto, and her husband said there was ‘no time’ to discuss the situation with his daughter and son-in-law.

Gabriel and his wife Ashley, who got married last July, welcomed their first child (a girl) just two weeks ago, Gabriel’s mother-in-law told the Daily Mail.

Mr Devereux explained that he met Cole at a wedding but ‘did not interact with him or know anything about his past’.
According to newly unearthed social media photos by the Daily Mail, the accused gunman attended his brother’s wedding to Ashley in Ledyard, Connecticut, last July.
In one moment, the alleged gunman is seen at the back of the room offering a glass of soda to the happy couple.
In another, he is seen in a family photo with his brother, parents and two sisters.
But interestingly, Cole was conspicuously absent from the bridal party and watched his brother get married from the pews.
While Ashley chose her husband’s sisters, Avriana and Stephanie, among her four bridesmaids, Gabriel does not appear to have chosen his brother as his best man, instead being joined by four friends at the altar.
Gabriel is one of four high-achieving children raised in the California suburb of Torrance in a close-knit church-going family by their teacher mother, Kathy, and church leader father, Thomas.
Neighbors previously told the Daily Mail that she and her sisters Avriana, 27, and Stephanie, 23, had achieved a string of accolades and academic achievements.
Cole was ‘taken to the ground’ and handcuffed by law enforcement officers after he allegedly opened fire in the lobby of the Washington Hilton on Saturday evening and breached a security checkpoint.
Earlier this week, a photo emerged of the suspect armed with weapons in his hotel room just before attacking the White House Correspondents’ Dinner security checkpoint.

Gabriel won a place to study shipbuilding and marine engineering at the prestigious Webb Institute in New York, which accepts fewer than 30 students a year.
After graduating in 2023, she was praised for her ‘excellence’ in her final thesis, praised for her ‘ethical behavior’ and ‘working selflessly and in harmony with her classmates’.
Stephanie was an undergraduate student at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, when she joined a Department of Energy-funded team working on particle accelerators and dark matter.
He later worked at the National Accelerator Laboratory at Stanford, where he experimented with electron beams used to help treat cancer, according to a paper prepared by the laboratory.
Avriana graduated from Northwestern University’s prestigious Medill School of Journalism and worked as a web developer at the nonprofit newsroom CalMatters, creating interactive voter guides for the 2021 recall elections, the 2022 midterms, and the 2024 presidential race.
He currently works at the Pew Research Center in Washington, DC.
But his alleged attacker brothers were no fools either. He earned a master’s degree in computer science and worked as a mechanical engineer and part-time teacher.
Before the alleged attack, Cole Allen was living with his family and had secretly hidden two guns, according to his sister Avriana.
He reportedly voiced his extreme political views to Secret Service agents and Maryland police and also told them his plans to solve problems he perceived with modern society.
