Two teenagers are fighting for their lives and eight people, including a young child, have been seriously injured after a multi-car crash allegedly caused by a 14-year-old teenager in Queensland.
Queensland Police said an unregistered Mitsubishi Lancer driven by an unlicensed 14-year-old boy was traveling northbound along Maryborough Hervey Bay Road in Susan River at about 6.10pm on Thursday.
He allegedly lost control and veered to the other side of the road, where he collided with a Suzuki Swift before crashing into the Orange Kona.
A Volkswagen Polo was driving behind the Kona and was involved in the crash.
His passenger in the Mitsubishi, a 16-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The 18-year-old female driver of the Suzuki was also hospitalized in critical condition.
Other occupants of the Mitsubishi, including the 14-year-old Urangan driver, a 14-year-old Granville boy and a 16-year-old Maryborough girl, suffered various injuries, police said.
They were transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

“I am deeply saddened to have come to report another serious accident in Wide Bay Burnett today involving unlicensed children, driving without permission and causing serious trauma to many families,” Inspector Paul Algie of Queensland Police told media on Friday.
“In tragic circumstances this occurred on the third anniversary of what became known as the triple death in Maryborough.
“On that fateful night, a boy in a stolen vehicle killed three people from Hervey Bay towards Maryborough Road.
“This sent shockwaves through this community that are still felt today.”
A 58-year-old woman from Wondunna, who was a passenger in the Suzuki, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the Kona, a 40-year-old Eli Waters man, suffered a leg injury, and a 2-year-old boy and a 40-year-old Eli Waters woman in the vehicle also suffered minor injuries.
All were transported to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver and sole occupant of the Volkswagen, a 19-year-old Maryborough man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital as a precaution.
