‘It’s actually treasonous’: Trump slams critics claiming US not “winning” Iran war

Speaking in The Villages, Florida, Trump criticized political opponents for questioning the effectiveness of the US military campaign.
“We’re enabling the radical left to say, ‘We’re not winning, we’re not winning.’ They have no troops left. It’s incredible,” Trump said. “It’s actually, I actually believe it’s a betrayal, okay. If you want to know the truth, it’s a betrayal.”
Trump also touched on the US military incursion into Venezuela in January, which he claimed was “one of the largest military actions in history” while drawing comparisons to the current conflict with Iran.
“We’re doing pretty much the same thing in Iran,” he said. “But I don’t like to talk about it until it’s over.”
Trump said that the military operation against Iran’s nuclear program was taken to save the Gulf region, including Israel, from the threat that would arise if Tehran had nuclear weapons.
“Because we need to take a little trip to a beautiful country known as Iran and make sure they don’t have nuclear weapons. “We stopped them with B2 bombers. If we hadn’t done this, they would have had nuclear weapons. Israel, the Middle East, and Europe would be torn to shreds.” He also claimed that Iran’s military capacity had significantly diminished, with the Iranian leadership allegedly weakened. “And a large part of Iran is being destroyed. They have no navy. There is no air force. They have no anti-aircraft equipment. They have no radar. They have no leaders; their leaders are all gone,” Trump said.
Trump said negotiations with Iran were not progressing as desired. “They are not making the kind of deal we need to make, and we will handle this properly,” he said.
He also emphasized that the United States would not end the conflict prematurely. “We’re not leaving early and we’re not going to be facing this kind of problem in three years,” Trump said.
Earlier, speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before heading to Florida, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest offer aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, while also casting doubt on whether a final deal could be reached.
“They want to make a deal, but I’m not happy with it, let’s see what happens,” Trump said.
He did not elaborate on specific aspects of the offer he found unacceptable but expressed uncertainty about Tehran’s willingness to ultimately reach a deal.
“They’ve made progress, but I’m not sure they’ll get there,” Trump added, speaking on the South Lawn of the White House.
The US President also pointed out the internal divisions in the Iranian leadership and suggested that this division could affect the negotiation process.
“The leadership is very disjointed. There are two or three groups, maybe four, and a very disjointed leadership. However, they all want to make a deal, but they are all screwed up,” the US President said.
Trump’s remarks came after Iran presented its latest proposal aimed at advancing negotiations with the United States to end the ongoing West Asian conflict, in response to Washington’s latest changes to a draft plan aimed at ending the conflict.
