Powerball jackpot reset to $20M for tonight: Winning numbers

After producing two jackpot winners and dozens of new millionaires, Powerball is back with a new prize.
Following a $143 million win on Wednesday, April 29, the Powerball jackpot was reset to $20 million, or $9 million in cash, ahead of the draw on May 2. According to lottery officials, the winning tickets were sold in Kansas and Indiana.
Wednesday’s drawing didn’t just produce two jackpot winners. Nearly 90 players in 20 states won Powerball prizes ranging from $1 million to $2 million. New Jersey continues to lead. 18 of those big winners came from the Garden State.
Powerball says the jackpot has been won almost 200 times since the game was introduced in 1992. Today, 45 US states participate, with only five states not offering the vote: Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.

How to play Powerball?
Powerball tickets are $2 per game and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. You can do this at a variety of places, including a local convenience store, gas station, or even grocery store. In some states, Powerball tickets may be purchased online, depending on local jurisdiction.
After purchasing your ticket, you need to choose six numbers. Five of these will be white balls numbered 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26. People can also add a “Power Play” for $1, which increases the winnings for all non-jackpot prizes. The “Power Play” multiplier can multiply winnings by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X.
There is also a “Quick Select” option if you want the computer to select the numbers. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls and the red Powerball in any order.
Powerball drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. If no one wins the jackpot, the cash prize will continue to increase.
