Cooper DeJean and Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers hit the Kentucky Derby red carpet

You’ve got to hand it to Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Cooper DeJean and Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers. These two seem to be choosing love over divisive rivalry.

That’s not easy to do in a world where love is constantly exposed to a giant pile of steam. It’s not easy to do that in the NFC East either. This won’t sit well with some fans of either NFL franchise.

They don’t want to see an Eagles star and a Cowboys cheerleader together, but here they are. One is a very talented second-round pick who won a Super Bowl as a rookie, and the other is a member of America’s Sweethearts.

As difficult as that may be for some to do, take away the rivalry and that’s exactly the type of relationship the NFL needs. Two young NFL stars are working hard to make their mark in the league.

DeJean and Summers were among those who appeared on the Kentucky Derby red carpet on Saturday. This comes after the two were seen together during Iowa’s Elite Eight loss in March.

Do March Madness and Churchill Downs equal an NFL love story? Can we officially add the title of NFL WAG to the biography of the Cowboys cheerleader and summer dignitary?

According to Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Kleine Powell, we can do it. The master player made statements before the match Summers’ TikTok video was published. “Derby day, aka rough launch day,” Powell wrote. She added some emojis and “sweet” to make it official.

Summers’ teammate was running around saying “tough launch day” Carelessly. Not when there’s a divided rivalry involved.

Cowboys fans, who already had a hard time last season with the Eagles at the top of the league, won’t be thrilled to see a cheerleader ignore the competition and date a rival.

But it’s a lot easier to get that out of the way in May than to fire a social media official in the middle of the season who could potentially be lining up on the other end of a game where Cooper DeJean’s season is on the line.

All in all, it hasn’t been a bad season for DeJean. Can he and Summers make it through the season as rivals? I can’t tell you the answer to that, but as someone who loves the team, I can assure you that I will support them.
